Quick Gestures

One thing I have learned (and continue to learn) about gesture drawings
is that you need to be able draw quickly in order to capture the first
few moments of a model’s pose.
In those first few seconds, the model’s emotion is expressed through
their initial gesture and within mere moments, it will change.  Because
of this, I always try to maintain loose lines and keep my pencil moving.

I have always felt that one of the most difficult things to illustrate is the human body. Their are so many things to keep in mind when you observe and draw the human form.

It is very intriguing to me how  muscles interact with one other, proportions – knowing how large and small specific body parts are and how they relate to one another. This has proven to be a complicated process for me – attempting to fully comprehend the mechanics of the human anatomy, while keeping true to the art and beauty of the human body.

I have many years ahead of me to grasp entirely the challenge of illustrating the most difficult yet intriguing subjects, the human body. With this in mind, I continue to work towards mastering my skills as an artist.
